Peacocks on Parade is a public art project in Downtown Dalton, Georgia, which was spearheaded by the Downtown Dalton Development Authority. The Peacocks are made available for purchase to any individual or organization in the Dalton community that would be interested in adopting one. The first ten peacocks of the program have been adopted, as of early summer 2013. The next five peacocks have been ordered and will arrive in Dalton for adoption in the fall of 2013. The program aims at creating a more inviting and interesting atmosphere in the Downtown Dalton community.

Peacocks were chosen as the representative image of Dalton because the image honors the textile heritage of the Dalton area and "Peacock Alley". "Peacock Alley" was the nickname given to Highway 41 at the height of chenille bedspread popularity. Catherine Evans Whitener created the chenille tufting process in Dalton that led to the invention of modern tufted carpet and Dalton's position as Carpet Capital of the World. The most recognizable patterns on the bedspreads that helped launch this industry were the colorful peacocks, which decorated the exterior of Highway 41's Chenille shops. These colorful bedspreads lining the popular Highway helped Highway 41 become known as "Peacock Alley".
